BARRY GOLDWATER SIGNED SPEECH ON
GOVERNMENT CONTROL OF AGRICULTURE
GOLDWATER, BARRY. 1964 Republican Presidential candidate defeated by LBJ; U.S. Senator from Arizona. Known as “Mr. Conservative”.
Speech entitled Freedom For the Farmer, 4to, 5pp., boldly signed on last page. In part: “...Federal intervention in agriculture has, indeed, proved “troublesome”. Disregard of the constitution in this field has brought about the inevitable loss of personal freedom; and it has created economic chaos. Unmanageable surpluses, an immense tax burden, high consumer prices, vexatious controls - ... We have blundered on so
grand a scale that even our critical faculties seem to have been damaged in the process...The teaching of the constitution on this matter is perfectly clear. No power over agriculture was ever given to any branch of the National government.” Great content. Boldly signed at
conclusion. . ..........[11552] ..........$95.00
